pajama class blog

This blog is about what we have been learning about in my American Literature class. We have been reading Walden by Henry David Thoreau, and the best way I can put it is.... I love it! I love reading it, and trying my best to analyze it. I have been learning more and more about myself through this book, and I would suggest it to anyone that has not read about it, and is willing to learn about the important things in life!

graphic novels and making a film

While reading about graphic novels; all I could think about is my childhood. I used to enjoy reading comic books as a child, and actually collected them for a short period of time, but the question is how would I be able to incorporate them in a classroom? Well I figured since most children like comic books you could have them create their own comic books out of the books you have them read in class such as Romeo and Juliet and such.

Last class we made our short story film. I thought this was a lot of fun. Although, it did take quite awhile, and I don't see this lesson possible for high school students. It was a great lesson for college students, but high school I really do not see it happening unless you would give them a month in order to complete the assignments.

week 6 blogs

Well its the week of spring break, so be safe and have a good time off everyone! Besides that in my American Lit class we are starting to discuss transcendentalism. I find this belief pretty neat and interesting. I am pretty excited to learn more about it. What does everyone else think about this belief?

week 5 readings

This blog will be both the blogs we were assigned all in one. First, I thought the readings on the multi shot was pretty neat. All this blogging and technology we are learning about in this class is very new, to me. The most technological thing I had was Facebook until now, so learning about the multi shot was very cool! I think this would be a great teaching activity for all ages! Second, the chapter 3 and 4 readings about blogs helped informed me about many activities that teachers could use incorporating blogs! Very interesting readings.

week 3 readings

I could be wrong, but I felt as if the whole reading from Kajder this week dealt with students working with each other. I think this is great. When I was in high school and my English teacher would put us into groups, I believe this worked better for everyone, because you get to hear what other people are thinking, and then expanding everyone's opinion....a great teaching method for all ages.

week 3 educational

I am currently taking American Lit. 1. We just got done reading Love Medicine, by Louise Erdrich. I think it is an all around great book, including tons and tons of imagery. I really enjoyed her style of writing in this book, which was non-linear. If anyone has not gotten a chance to read this book, I would defiantly recommend it.

week 2 educational

This blog doesn't tell you what I learned this week, but rather asks what you may have learned. I am taking intro to linguistics and grammar this semester with Dr. White. I am asking for study tips, or anything that would be helpful to study for the exams, or how to get a fair grade. The class is very interesting, but when it comes to the test I feel like it is going to be a real doozy. If you have taken the course please share some study strategies! Thank you!
